About Alya
I come from a mixed background, with my father being English and my mother being Malaysian. I grew up in the United Arab Emirates spending the majority of my education in two international schools in Dubai. I have completed my IGCSE’s and A-Levels in international schools located in Dubai and Kuala Lumpur. I am currently completing a Batchelor of Education specialising in Primary Education and minoring in TESOL.
I’ve always found teaching to be something I’ve enjoyed and I do believe that everyone deserves education that suits them. I believe that education is forever changing and I am open to trying new, fun ways to engage students in their work!

I believe that a persons educational journey should focus around the student and their needs. Encouraging students in their learning allows them to find a passion in their work, allowing for better engagement and personal development.
My lessons could range from 30 minutes to 1.5hours. If a lesson is over an hour, short 5 minute breaks are incorporated to allow the student to regather their throughs.
My lessons are for primary aged students, however secondary students and older are also welcomed if they need help in English as an Additional Language.
Average Lesson plan (1hr)
- 15 minutes: recap of the previous lesson / brain games to stimulate critical thinking.
- 20 - 30 minutes: Main task, development of skills / new skills taught.
- 10 - 15 minutes: theory into practice.
- Last 5 minutes: Recap games.
