About Karina
My name is Karina, a current undergraduate student at the University of Birmingham. My experience with learning as a previous student in a state-school during the pandemic was a challenging time to ask for support and help. I want to ensure that my students never have to worry about asking for support, are provided with an abundance of resources to look through and inspired to take new opportunities.
I want to teach because I want to inspire confidence, make learning in my lessons an exciting place, and unlock opportunities for young people. I also want to help students achieve beyond their potential, and encourage hope.
I believe that studying under my support will ensure students to reach their goals.

My techniques and teaching methodology:
I will first ask the student where their strengths and weaknesses are, set attainable goals for each session, and find out what results they'd like so that we can work from there. I will also ask the student what their learning style is, and weave this into homework (online) which will be revision. This is paired with and exam preparation so that knowledge is retained as we are learning.
I ensure that learning remains exciting yet with a good challenge. I am also happy to make any reasonable adjustments if students find certain aspects of tutoring to be too challenging or difficult e.g. setting homework with strict deadlines.
Length of lesson and breakdown:
A typical length of a lesson is 1 hour which breaks down into:
- 10 minutes of 'fast recap' (revising content from the past session) and homework feedback
- 40 minutes of learning content
- 10 minutes of 'flash test' (revision of learned content) and setting homework for next session
Due to my university studies, I can only hold online tutoring lessons in the evening. My lessons are targeted at GCSE or A level students studying English Literature.
