About Morgan

I'm currently in my second year of studying English and Philosophy at the University of Sheffield, originally from London with a grammar school background. I have tutored KS3 and 4 students in various subjects, and can also offer tuition at a KS5 in English and philosophy/religious studies.

About the lesson

My methodology is based on practice rather than a lecturing style, as this produces the best results. Initially this will include help from myself in order to ensure the student has access to exemplary work that they can fully understand and engage with. I believe simply handing examples of excellent answers to a student is unsatisfactory in the learning process, as there is no engagement with the thought processes behind such examples, and having the student participate in creating and exemplary piece of work is highly beneficial in boosting the students confidence in their own abilities.

In English tuition will consist of practicing exam paper skills on randomly selected short extracts as well as any specific works covered in the students course.

In Philosophy/RS tuition will be a blend of practicing exam skills and teaching content, as some of the content can be rather hard to fully grasp.

All other subjects taught at a KS3 level will entirely consist of practice questions with my aid, unless the student earmarks an area in which they are not comfortable or do not understand, in which case more explanation/teaching will be involved.

Please note that while completing practice questions/exercises, the student will not be working completely solo. I make it a practice to overlook what they are doing and make suggestions and discuss the content we are going over while the student is working to gauge the level of understanding they have with what they are doing, allowing me to pinpoint what areas they need help with, and also allowing me to explain things in the moment when necessary.
