About Tugrul

I have been teaching and doing academic research in theoretical physics for over 30 years. My teaching covers topics in physics and mathematics at the undergraduate and graduate college levels. An important part of my motivation in teaching is that I look at teaching, research and life as three inseparable concepts. I teach in order to be challenged by the young minds so that I can be fresh and strong in my research. I therefore always need to motivate the student about the concepts so that I can be challenged. The student is my partner in this life-long scenario where both sides win by getting involved.

Think of an ocean and an archipelago of islands. The islands are different fields of physics and mathematics that we are taught in the school. let's say in some sense corresponding to "disciplines" of physics. The real fun and motivation comes when you can swim like a free dolphin between the islands. As the fun and motivation is gained, the success is only a matter of time.

The second wisdom that I pass on to my students is that, self growth is exponentially strong which lasts long. A growth based on competing with others depends on the age, on who the “others are” and what the “others” are doing at that moment. Hence it lasts shorter. Having a strong motivation is the fuel of one’s self growth.

About the lesson

Here I offer you a perfect balance between high quality learning and price.

I do tutoring for individual students on one-by-one basis and also small groups. I do not train students to be a programmable calculator. Learning from the foundations of how nature works should provide them power to do everything with success liberating their own souls and minds no need to mention the good grades.

I teach university physics/math courses at the undergraduate and graduate level since 1992. I also teach highly motivated high school students AP physics and math. I trained a large number of students among which are some high school, some college and some PhD research students.

I tutor online with live handwriting using use a multifunctional software which is freely downloadable and a tablet/laptop.

A- a university undergraduate/graduate engineering major interested in specialized fields in physics/math (freshman physics, fundamentals of physics, mathematical methods for physicists and engineers, ... )

B- an experienced university student with more advanced interests like Classical/Analytical Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Statistical Mechanics, Electromagnetism, Quantum Mechanics, Numerical Algorithms, Classical and Quantum Optics, Classical and Quantum Field Theory, Solid State and Condensed Matter Physics.

The rates are (one tutoring session=90 minutes):

- For one tutoring session:
X=$ 70/hr (for specialized fields in Section A above)
X=$ 80/hr (advanced topics in Section B above)

- Prepaid packages: I will help you with a 10 % discount for each 5 hour prepaid package. For example, for X being equal to one of the hourly prices above,

- 5 hour tutoring (% 5 discount), the discounted price per tutoring hour becomes =X * 0.9
- 10 hour tutoring (% 10 discount), the discounted price per tutoring hour becomes =X * 0.8
- 15 hour tutoring (% 15 discount), the discounted price per tutoring hour becomes =X * 0.7
- 20 hour tutoring (% 20 discount), the discounted price per tutoring hour becomes =X * 0.6

There is a group package which comes with a great discount. The group tutoring and prepaid package discounts can be applied simultaneously.
