About Winnie

I am a 2020 graduate of Haileybury Girls' College who received an ATAR of 98.10. I completed a double degree in Science and Biomedical Science at Monash and I am now studying a Masters of Secondary Teaching at the University of Melbourne. I have tutored over 200 students over the past 5 years from Yr 7-12, with a specialisation in VCE Math Methods, English, Chemistry, Chinese SL and General Maths. I have also taught Selective school entry (EDU and ACER test), having received a 75% scholarship in Haileybury and also admittance into MacRob and Box Hill through selective tests. If you do VCE Biology, Psychology or French let me know too, since I am also well versed in these subjects and offer you advice! Do not worry if you are interstate, since I have taught all states in Australia before over the past 5 years - just let me know if you think there are any discrepancies and we can go through it.

For students who want to achieve a high study score, I specifically focus on SAC and exam practice. I am skilled in the use of the CAS and the scientific calculator, and have taught many modelling and application tasks for VCE.
For students who would like to focus on content and catching up with class content, I will delve into each topic to ensure we understand each concepts - do not panic if you don't understand the topic, just let me know and I can go through it as many times as you like!

I have a flexible teaching style with an abundance of resources, including textbooks, trial exams, practice SACs and past notes. Students can feel free to ask me questions any time! I am passionate about teaching and would love to form a bond with students which will allow students to become more confident with specific subjects and studying!

Hi! Please have a look at how I usually conduct the tutoring sessions - the way I teach is flexible and will change depending on how students prefer it, so feel free to ask me any questions by text or email! Please note that for science, I teach the following subjects: Science (Yr7-10) Chemistry (U1&2, U3&4) Biology (U1&2, U3&4). I also offer tutoring in English, Maths, Chinese, and French if you would like to have a look at my other listings :) I base my teaching on two main methods: First, teaching in concepts and subjects. For VCE subjects, there will be a focus on the foundations and key terms of subjects, as well as a focus on SACs and assignment problems. Students can feel free to ask any questions and also bring in additional work to work through if required. No pressure! If no work, then classes will be based on teaching materials not taught in school yet. Tips and notes that are not mentioned in textbooks will also be taught. The second part will be correction, feedback, and homework - students can bring in their own work, but homework tasks such as tests, exams, and other practices will be provided. It is important to complete work in addition to classes and to consolidate knowledge that has been taught.
