About Elly

I am a tutor with a Master of Architecture from the University of Melbourne, offering support in Mathematics, Mathematical Modeling, and Chinese. My academic background has trained me to think in a structured and analytical way, and I apply this approach in my tutoring to help students understand concepts clearly and logically.

I focus on building students’ confidence by breaking down complex topics into simple, manageable steps and guiding them through problem-solving processes. Rather than focusing on memorization, I aim to develop a deeper understanding of how and why solutions work.

In Mathematics and Mathematical Modeling, I help students strengthen their logical thinking and problem-solving skills. In Chinese, I support learners in developing practical communication skills, including speaking, vocabulary, and everyday usage in a supportive and engaging environment.

I am a native Mandarin speaker with strong English communication skills, allowing me to support bilingual learning when needed. I am committed to creating a patient, structured, and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and improving at their own pace.

About the lesson

I am a tutor in Mathematics, Mathematical Modeling, and Chinese. My teaching approach is structured and student-focused, with an emphasis on helping learners understand concepts step by step rather than memorizing answers. In Mathematics, I break down complex problems into smaller, logical parts and guide students through the reasoning process so they can build confidence and develop independent problem-solving skills. I also encourage students to explain their thinking, which helps reinforce understanding.

For Mathematical Modeling and problem-solving, I focus on helping students apply mathematical concepts to structured and practical scenarios, developing both logical thinking and analytical skills.

For Chinese tutoring, I focus on building practical communication skills, including pronunciation, vocabulary, and everyday usage. I aim to create a supportive and engaging environment where students feel comfortable practicing and improving their confidence in using the language.

I typically structure lessons around 60 minutes, which allows time for explanation, guided practice, independent work, and review. I can adapt lesson structure depending on individual learning needs.

I hold a Master of Architecture from the University of Melbourne, where I developed strong analytical thinking, structured reasoning, and problem-solving abilities. In addition, my experience in customer service roles has strengthened my communication skills, patience, and ability to explain information clearly to different individuals. I am a native Mandarin speaker with strong English communication skills, allowing me to support bilingual learning when needed.
