About Ali
I recently graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Commerce and a Diploma in Arabic. Without any understanding of Standard Arabic or how to read or write Arabic, I finished Arabic with first-class honours. For the last two years, I have been an Arabic tutor for university students both living and studying at the university. For the last three years, I have facilitated, in Arabic, the university's Annual Arabic Orientation Day for high school students who are considering studying Arabic at University. This summer, I am also an Arabic tutor for the VCE Summer School, a two-week program of classes and workshops for students entering their last year of high school.

My teaching is student-driven. Instead of "telling" students what they should focus on, I aim to guide students on their desired area of focus. I then draw on my expertise and experiences to provide useful bridges between related concepts and tools which will help students explore their area of focus further. I have come to develop this student-driven approach because without allowing students to guide their learning, students quickly lose focus and passion for the subject they may have entered loving. By nurturing the natural curiosity of students and validating their interests, students are more focused, more engaged and more much more likely to go above and beyond in their learning.

Details
My travel charge will change depending on the location. If the location is quite far way from my location, I will increase my travel charge. If the location is quite close, I may actually waver the travel fee.
If the student is in high school or university, my rate will be $30 (not including travel costs).
