About Eve

I am an Undergraduate at the University of Liverpool studying for a BA in English. This is a subject that I have been passionate about my entire life, and have excelled at in school. I'm 19, so I am familiar with the new system of marking, as I sat my exams using the 9-1 system.
At GCSE, I achieved a 9 in English Literature and a 9 in English Language. At A Level, I achieved an A*, and I am working towards achieving a high grade at university.
I have work experience in a primary school so I am used to working with children of varying ages and helping them with their learning of English and Literacy.

About the lesson

I am happy to give lessons to children of primary school age of any level in English or Literacy. As somebody who actually struggled with Maths in school and went through tutoring for that subject myself, I have a good idea of which methods are the most useful, and how to approach teaching children who struggle particularly with English.
I aim to plan my lessons around the child I am tutoring, taking into account in the first session both their strengths and weaknesses - to keep them motivated, it is incredibly important to offer praise for what they can do well, and be supportive and encouraging towards their weaker areas. Smaller issues which make up the foundation for their learning and the subject as a whole will be tackled first - for example, if the child struggles with spelling, that will be the first problem solved before even considering writing PEE(L) paragraphs etc. to give them a solid background to work with.
As a lover of creative writing, I can help to boost a child's imagination by bringing to life things that they enjoy and what they experience in their everyday life to help them to write their own stories for their assessments. These skills will support them through their entire educational career and assist for their SATs, as skills in creative writing, reading and spelling are necessary and relevant throughout high school and college too.

However, if the lesson is cancelled on the day or the night before, the usual fee will still be charged.
