About Ruby
I am an undergraduate at the University of Cambridge studying Social Sciences (specialising in Sociology and Anthropology). At A-level, I took History, Politics, Philosophy, Art ( four A*s), and an EPQ. At GCSE my best grades were (surprisingly for my trajectory) the sciences! I loved Chemistry, Physics, and Maths, but I also had a soft spot for Religious Studies. I recieved seven Grade 9s, two Grade 8s, and two Grade 7s.
I have also worked as an education activist for three years now, hoping to inspire students through quick, accessible social media information about the news and politics. I have recently begun to work as a journalist both through student newspapers and through work experience at The Economist and The Daily Telegraph.
While I do not formally tutor in this, I have also been asked by many students for help thinking about their long-term futures and particularly putting together their UCAS applications for university - I love to help students do this and think it's absolutely vital for young people to have passionate and experienced mentors in this process! I find that students often come out of these conversations inspired to have something to work towards, which helps both their wellbeing and their grades.

I have worked across primary and performing arts school as well as offering personal tutoring for ages 8-16, and am championed for my exam-specific guidance and feedback which has improved a student's Physics and Chemistry GCSE grades from an expected 4 to an 8 and 9.
I typically teach for an hour but also offer essay and exam feedback sessions for 45 minutes, and have in the past ran "bootcamp" sessions for multiple students in the run up to exams which are flexibly timed but can run for 2-4 hours, with breaks.
I focus primarily on working through exam questions and quizzes as I firmly believe that the most effective way to learn is through practice and application - you cannot learn if you can't do!
