About Hannah

I understand that school is not for everyone, and that learning is individual to each student. For that reason, I create unique lessons for each student to match their learning style and goals. I like to teach with a conversation based approach, guiding students through content using discussion and enquiry. I believe sociology is a subject based on curiosity and critical analysis, and so I steer clear of lecturing style teaching and don't just lay the answer in front of you. I teach students the thought process and investigation skills necessary to find the answer to exam questions they may not be familiar with. I have studied sociology for more than 5 years, having achieved a grade 9 at GCSE sociology and grade A* at A-level Sociology, before going on to study a BSc Sociology degree at Loughborough University. I have had a passion for sociology for many years and so stay up to date with important changes and studies within the subject. Having recently studied the AQA GCSE and A-level curriculums, I have first hand experience with the exam process and so am able to equip my students with the relevant skills necessary to build confidence and enjoy studying Sociology.

About the lesson

I use a conversational style of teaching that focuses on discussion and enquiry to understand different topics. I believe in a teaching method that actively involves students rather than passively lecturing to them. Sociology is about curiosity and investigation to develop critical analysis skills, so I don't just teach students to memorise the exam questions, I equip them with the skills to find the answer themselves even if the topic is unfamiliar. I understand that each student will be individual, and have different ways of learning, motivating, themselves and concentrating. For this reason, I can adapt lessons to fit your needs - a typical lesson can be anything from 45 minutes to 2 hours. Lessons are available for anyone with an interest in sociology, but specifically for GCSE and A-level students studying the AQA curriculums. Whether you need that extra boost to pass your exams, or you are reaching for those top grades, I can tailor lessons to your goals.
