About Michael
I have been tutoring for nealy two years, primarily at the secondary education level, with some primary education-level instruction experience. This includes one-on-one tutoring and group sessions. Group sessions consist of AEW (academic excellence workshop) curricula I devised based on college biology (molecular, animal, and plant) course structure. Students in group sessions have, based on statistical analysis from a representative data pool, more often than not performed a grade better in applicable courses. Data from one-on-one sessions was not available, but brief surveys indicated a much greater understanding of course content. This primarily comes from courses designed around pre-algebra, algebra, introductory biology, and introductory chemistry.

Active participation on both part of the tutor/student is absolutely essential. A supportive environment with engaging, practised content and problems requiring lateral thinking are absolutely essential for real understanding to occur. Time and resources-permitting, an experiential approach is taken to demonstrate way in which the "why" and "how" of science are connected i.e. mock practical experiments.
