I use a clear, student-centered approach for middle school English grammar and writing that starts with explicit teaching of rules and craft, followed by scaffolded practice and real application. Lessons rely on mentor texts, modeling, interactive activities like sentence combining and error analysis, immediate feedback, and spiral review so skills stick and transfer to students’ own writing.
A typical 45–55 minute lesson includes a short hook, a focused mini-lesson, guided practice, independent or collaborative application, and a quick reflection. What sets me apart is treating grammar as a tool for stronger writing rather than isolated rules, keeping lessons energetic and differentiated, and building a supportive environment where middle schoolers gain confidence and actually improve their essays, stories, and everyday writing.
