About Elyse

I have always loved teaching and explaining concepts to those around me. When I was just eleven I started coaching soccer as an assistant and as I got older I realized I loved helping my friends with their homework. During the summer before my senior year of high school I volunteered as an Assistant Teacher for the Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program at Adobe and I had a blast teaching the girls different coding techniques. In the past year I enjoyed teaching my peers during study sessions and helping them better understand concepts that they were unfamiliar with. Although I have yet to have one on one tutoring experience I believe that I will make a fantastic tutor and I am excited for this opportunity!

About the lesson

I think it's important for students to be taught in a way that appeals to them. I believe learning should be fun not forced and everyone can enjoy math when it is taught correctly. In my opinion the best way to learn is through practice. My teaching style consists of identifying the areas a student is struggling in and then working through practice problems until they have a comprehensive understanding for that concept. Furthermore there are no bad questions and I believe patience and laughter are very important when it comes to teaching!
