About Catherine

Hello and Bienvenue! My name is Catherine, and I’m a French Canadian originally from Montreal, Canada. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism and Hospitality, and my journey with languages truly began when I moved to the West Coast for a job opportunity. Immersed in an English-speaking environment, I experienced firsthand the challenges of learning a new language and being understood in a different cultural context. With determination and persistence, I improved my English to the point where my contract was extended for another season. That experience gave me the confidence I now have in English as my second language—and deepened my understanding of what it means to learn one. My travels eventually brought me to New Zealand, where I’ve lived for the past six years and proudly hold permanent residency. Now that I’ve made Aotearoa my home, I’d love to share a bit of Québec with others by teaching and celebrating the beautiful French language. I understand what it’s like to be a language learner, and I bring patience, structure, and encouragement to every lesson. Whether you're learning for travel, study, work, or fun, I’m here to guide you on your French learning journey with warmth, clarity, and cultural insight. À bientôt!

About the lesson

My lesson consists of different structures depending on what you want to focus on. With a length between 45 to 60 minutes, discussion, reading and writing will most likely take place, but you will be in charge of deciding what you want to focus on, and the topics you want to learn about.

My lessons can be for anybody from childhood to adulthood. I firmly believe it is never too late to learn a new language, as I can take myself as a prime example, of only learning English in my 20s.

Don't be shy to reach out, I've been where you are right now, and understand the troubles and difficulties learning a new language brings and know tricks to overcome it.
