About Maryam

Hi! My name is Maryam and I am studying maths at university and it is not because I am sad like a lot of my friends believe but rather it is because I am obsessed with maths and find joy in helping other people understand the complicatedness of maths. I am assuming that if you are looking for a tutor it is because you want to get better maths grades and if so you have come to the right person. My intention with every student is to help you become more confident in your maths solving skills so that when you are writing tests or exams you doubt your answers less and know how to start solving problems more.

About the lesson

My intent is to guide the student's thought process when solving maths problems. Techniques and teaching methodology: -Often times, when maths is being taught, students are told how to solve a problem set but I find as a student myself that isn't really helpful when students are facing problems of a different nature or require more critical thinking. -To help students with this I intend to urge the student to vocalise their reasoning behind each problem-solving step so that I can help them pinpoint when their reasoning is going off course. Typical length of the lesson: 1-2 hrs. Qualification to be a maths tutor: I am studying maths at university and I am known for being patient when explaining things to people. Experience as a tutor: I have tutored my friends and they seem to find my tutoring helpful but, this is my first time officially being a maths tutor. Lessons are for: Since it is my first time officially tutoring I intend to cater my lessons towards GCSE students and hopefully in the future I will tutor A-level students as well.
