About Libby

Hi! I’m Libby, a final-year Mathematics student at the University of Nottingham with over 5 years of tutoring experience and a passion for my subject as well as having achieved an A* in A-level Maths myself. I specialise in tutoring both Maths and Further Maths, helping many students build their confidence and achieve top results. I provide tailored, engaging lessons to suit each student’s ability and unique learning style. With over 5 years of tutoring experience, I have helped a wide range of students improve their performance in both Maths and Further Maths. My experience spans from working with GCSE students who need to solidify their foundational skills, to A-level students tackling advanced concepts in Further Maths. I've consistently helped my students gain confidence and achieve higher grades, whether through exam preparation or general subject mastery. I also have a wide knowledge of all UK major exam boards, including AQA, Edexcel and OCR. My teaching approach is centred around making Maths engaging and accessible. I believe every student can excel when the material is presented in a way that suits their learning style.

About the lesson

Here's what you can expect from my sessions:

Tailored Lessons: Each lesson is customised to the student's current level and specific goals. I break down complex topics into manageable steps, making it easier for students to grasp challenging concepts. I will focus primarily on the areas that the student is struggling with the most, and will set homework to ensure that the student is progressing.

Interactive Learning: I encourage active participation and problem-solving, helping students confidently apply what they’ve learned. Lessons usually start with a recap of the content covered in the previous session to solidify learning and ensure students have fully understood the material before moving on to new content. The lesson typically ends with an exam-style question based on the material covered, with many opportunities throughout the session to ask questions.

Exam-Focused Strategies: I provide revision tips, past paper practice, and exam techniques to help students prepare effectively for exams. My in-depth knowledge of major exam boards allows me to focus on exactly what’s needed for success.

Patient and Supportive: As a current university student myself, I understand the pressures and challenges of preparing for exams. This insight allows me to relate to my students' experiences, and I’m patient in guiding them through difficult topics. I create a comfortable learning environment where students feel confident asking questions and taking the time they need to fully understand the material.
