About Julian

Hey, I’m Julian! I’m based in Knoxville, Tennessee, and this fall, I’ll be studying Physics and Nuclear Engineering. I offer math tutoring from elementary to undergraduate levels, focusing on clear explanations, real-world applications, and problem-solving strategies to help students gain confidence. Whether you're preparing for the SAT, AMC, AP Calculus, or college-level math, I provide both in-person and online sessions tailored to your needs. Outside of academics, I love watching football, hockey, baseball, and basketball, playing pickup basketball, and going to the gym—I also played baseball and swam in high school!

About the lesson

I take an intuition-driven approach to teaching, focusing on building a strong conceptual foundation before diving into problem-solving. Instead of rote memorization, I emphasize why formulas and methods work, breaking down complex concepts into simpler, digestible parts. My lessons are interactive, using real-world applications, especially from physics and engineering, to make math more engaging. I adjust my teaching style to fit each student’s learning pace, whether they are visual, auditory, or hands-on learners.

A typical lesson starts with a quick review of past material and addressing any difficulties before introducing new concepts with step-by-step explanations and visual aids. I guide students through progressively challenging problems, ensuring they develop confidence in their problem-solving abilities. The lesson wraps up with independent practice, where I provide feedback and reinforce key takeaways. My goal is to equip students with critical thinking skills that extend beyond the classroom.

What sets me apart is my background in Physics and Nuclear Engineering, which allows me to connect mathematical concepts to real-world scenarios. I also have experience preparing students for exams and competitions, such as AMC, SAT Math, AP Calculus, and college-level coursework. I offer tutoring for all levels, from elementary math to undergraduate courses, including Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus I-III, Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra.
