About Gemini

I am a first year English student at the University of Cambridge. I achieved A*A*A* at A Level and was offered places to study at 4 other Russell Group Universities.
In 2022 & 2021, I was awarded the English Literature prize by my school for being top in the year. I have lots of experience in creative writing; I write extensively, my work has been published and I have won a Young Writers' poetry award.

English is my passion and I take great pride in my attention to the subject. My personal style of note-taking is very diligent and I have read widely. I believe a wide range of resources, both written, visual and interactive (e.g. summaries, spider diagrams, flashcards, quizzes), produce the most well-rounded understanding of a text. I would encourage students to form individual views and responses to any text, as this validates their existing skills and lays the foundations to develop a reasoned and sophisticated comprehension of English literature.

About the lesson

In each lesson, students will develop their language and literacy skills through responses to both unseen and familiar materials. There will be guided exploration of the key themes, writing techniques and contexts of literature. I encourage students to think critically and write thoughtful, clearly structured responses to written texts.
I offer an individually tailored tutoring program specific to the areas of skill development for each pupil, of ages 10-17, ranging from the 11+ (AQE) exam, to GCSE and A Level. Lessons will be carried out remotely via Zoom with additional materials/support available via email.

Lesson duration and cost:
Age >11: 30 minutes (£10 a session/£80 for a set of 10)
Age 11-14: 45 minutes (£15 a session/£120 for a set of 10)
GCSE/A Level : 1 hour (£25 a session/£200 for a set of 10)

Typically, lessons take place 1-2 times a week for a course of 10 sessions. Additional lessons can be arranged to meet the needs of each individual student.

I have experience providing informal support for students in this subject, and in other related subjects e.g. foreign languages. On the student forum, TheStudentRoom, I often answer academic queries about English
