About Kathleen
Hi! I'm Kathleen and I graduated with distinction from UNC Chapel Hill with a bachelor's in Business Administration and Data Science. I've always loved math; in high school I took AP Calculus BC (scored a 5) and IB Higher Level Math, scored a perfect 800 on both SAT Math and SAT Subject Math Level 2, and graduated with a 3.98 unweighted/4.74 weighted GPA. I currently work in finance at a major US bank, which helps me show students how math actually shows up in the real world!
Outside of work, I'm passionate about education and genuinely love working with kids - if life had taken a different path, I'd probably be a teacher! I'm a warm, patient, and personable person and I think that comes through in how I tutor. I care about every student I work with and love seeing them grow in confidence. Math can feel intimidating, but with the right person in your corner it doesn't have to be, and I'd love to be that person!

My tutoring style is patient, encouraging, and fully personalized. I take time to understand how each student thinks and tailor my approach from there. A typical lesson starts by identifying where the student is struggling, working through concepts together at their pace, and then practicing until things feel solid rather than just familiar. With 2 years of experience tutoring K-12 students, I've learned that the goal isn't just getting the right answer, it's building genuine understanding so students can tackle problems independently.
My real world finance background also helps me show older students why math matters, which makes it a lot more engaging!
I can help with elementary and middle school math, Algebra, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus AB & BC, and SAT/ACT Math prep. Available in person in Tampa (willing to drive in a 10 mile radius) or online!
