About Adolph

I teach functional groups, radical reactions, IR and mass spectrometry, mechanism drawing, reaction mechanisms, IUPAC nomenclature, stereochemistry, resonance and acidity, and NMR spectroscopy. I admit that I struggled to memorize these concepts initially before realizing that patterns are the secret to success.

After 6 years of guiding students at every level, I find that watching a student finally spot a reaction mechanism for the first time is truly rewarding. Focusing on understanding over rote memorization makes this complex subject feel simple.

About the lesson

Beginning our complete session often feels like untangling a complicated knot. You do not need to memorize every single reaction to succeed here.

My background with a BA in Chemistry from UNC Chapel Hill informs how I break down arrow pushing and synthesis maps. Six years of teaching experience taught me that steady preparation beats late night cramming.

These sessions remain calm environments where you can draw mechanisms without pressure. Logic dictates the result. Results follow the method.
