About Umida

I'm Umida, a Master's student at UNSW specializing in Actuarial Studies and Financial Mathematics. I have 5+ years of tutoring and teaching experience across both high school and university level.
I'm patient, reliable, and genuinely invested in each student's progress. I take the time to understand where a student is struggling before jumping to solutions, and I adapt my explanations until the concept truly makes sense — not just for the test, but for the long run.
My students can count on me to come prepared, communicate openly, and create a space where no question is too basic. Whether you're trying to build confidence in the fundamentals or push for a top HSC mark, I'm here to help you get there.

About the lesson

I focus on understanding first — before any shortcuts or formulas. I ask students to walk me through their thinking so I can pinpoint exactly where the confusion is, then try different explanations until it clicks. I always make sure students feel comfortable asking anything, no matter how basic it seems.
Lessons are typically 1 hour. For new students I usually spend the first session getting a feel for where they're at and what they need most.
I'm a Master's student at UNSW with years of tutoring and teaching experience, including as a university Teaching Assistant.
I tutor Maths from Year 6 through to Year 12 — covering everything from core fundamentals to HSC topics like calculus, trigonometry, and functions — as well as university-level subjects like statistics and econometrics.
