About Abby
Hi, I’m a UCT Psychology graduate and currently completing my PGCE. I’ve always enjoyed working with children and helping them feel more confident in their learning. Through my studies, as well as my experience working with families and supporting learners with their schoolwork, I’ve developed a good understanding of how children learn and what helps them feel comfortable asking questions and engaging with their work.
I’m patient, approachable, and try to create a relaxed environment where learners don’t feel afraid to make mistakes or ask for help. I believe that building confidence is just as important as improving marks, especially for younger learners who are still developing their foundational skills.
My aim is to support students in a way that helps them feel more capable and comfortable with their schoolwork.

I am a UCT Psychology graduate and currently completing my PGCE. I have experience working with children through au pairing and supporting learners with their schoolwork. My background in psychology has helped me understand how children learn, develop confidence, and respond to different learning approaches.
My tutoring style is patient, supportive, and adapted to each learner. I try to create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through challenges without feeling pressured. I focus on helping learners strengthen their understanding of concepts, improve their skills, and become more confident in their schoolwork.
For primary school learners, I offer support in English, History, Mathematics, and Natural Sciences. This can include homework help, practising reading and writing, improving comprehension, preparing for tests, and reinforcing concepts covered in class. For high school learners, I offer tutoring in Maths Literacy, English, and Dramatic Arts.
During a typical lesson, we would usually go through the learner’s schoolwork, identify areas that need more support, and practise exercises together. I try to explain concepts in a clear and simple way and encourage learners to think through problems themselves so they gradually become more independent in their learning.
My lessons are aimed at primary school learners who need extra support with foundational skills or homework, as well as high school students who need help with specific subjects. I teach in English.
