About Bela

I'm an ideas-first, figure-out-medium-later kind of person, meaning that my creative practice has a wide scope and I am thrilled by multidimensionality. Most of what I know, I taught myself by diving into a project I cared about and learning whatever I needed along the way — and I'd love to teach you tools that can help you pursue that same approach & become your own limitless generator.
I'm a recent graduate of UCLA's Design | Media Arts program, so there's real training behind the instinct. Whether you're just starting out or prepping a portfolio, expect lessons that are hands-on, honest, and shaped around what you actually want to make (and we'll figure out how to determine what you want to make too :) ) Excited to work with you!

About the lesson

I don't teach by front-loading theory and then sending you off to practice — I learned everything I know by wanting to make something and figuring out how to make it, then repeating that process until the skill stuck. That's how I teach too. We start with something you actually want to create, and I guide you through the techniques and tools you need as you need them — so the learning is driven by the work, not the other way around. It's slower to explain but faster to actually stick, because you're solving real problems instead of practicing in a vacuum. I'm a firm believer in play and exploration :)

What Sets Me Apart:
I studied Design | Media Arts at UCLA, so I bring formal training in design principles alongside real studio and software experience (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). I've built and exhibited my own creative work, so I understand both the technical and conceptual sides of making art- and I know what it takes to develop a body of work you're proud to put in front of others as well as what these spaces are looking for.
Who This Is For:
My lessons work well for beginners building foundational drawing and design skills, students preparing portfolios for art school applications, and anyone wanting to learn Adobe Suite for creative or academic projects. I tailor each lesson to your level and goals, whether that's a specific class assignment, a personal project, or long-term skill building.
