About Diya

Hi, I'm Diya and I'm a first year student at University College London studying Philosophy. I have over 7 years of experience with the Spanish language and my love for and knowledge of the language allowed me to achieve a grade 9 at GCSE and an A* at A Level, I have also been able to tutor and prepare other students for these qualifications- I would love to help you succeed with Spanish too!

For those preparing for GCSE and A Level Spanish, I have taken the exams myself recently so I have knowledge of the specifications and am in a good position to teach you the techniques needed for the top grades, I will be able to relate to you as I know how stressful the exams can be and I can provide you with the A* level notes that I made for the exams, as well as of course my tips and advice!!

For students in non-exam years (Years 7-10), I will help you to build up foundational knowledge of the Spanish language (the grammar and the core skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking). Having this solid foundation will ensure that you are ready to excel in your future exams.

About the lesson

During our first session, I will assess the student's current level of Spanish and discuss with them their goals (this could range from simply wanting to boost their knowledge of Year 7-11 Spanish and pass their GCSE to wanting a grade 9 or even an A* in A Level Spanish), I will then adapt my teaching style to meet the specific needs of the student. I prioritise the motivations and interests of the student so that they can get the most out of their time with me.

The sessions that follow will each last for 1 hour, the content will vary as my sessions are personalised and tailored to what the student would like to work on (e.g. grammar, oral exam preparation, one-on-one support with homework etc), with that being said they will all ensure that the student is equipped with the necessary, fundamental skills of language learning- listening, reading, writing and speaking, which will ensure they can use and manipulate the language with a level of confidence and fluidity.
- In the lead up to exams, the sessions may have a heavier focus on exam technique and past papers to ensure that the student is at ease going into the exams and comes out with the grade they deserve!
