About Sherilynn

Hello! My name is Sherilynn Peng, and I moved to California from out of state to attend college and recently graduated from UC Irvine with a Bachelor's in Cognitive Sciences and minor in Management. I have always loved learning and education, and I enjoy helping students feel more confident and capable in their studies.

I was named to the Dean’s Honor List at my school. Through my coursework in cognitive science, I learned about the cognitive and neurological processes involved in learning, as well as research-backed study strategies. I apply this knowledge when creating lessons and helping students develop effective study habits. I was also highly involved on campus, which strengthened my communication, leadership, and organizational skills. I am confident in my ability to help students build skills that are useful both inside and outside the classroom.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy journaling, listening to podcasts, visiting art museums, trying new coffee shops, and spending time with friends. I’m excited to get to know you, understand your academic goals, and support you throughout your learning journey!

About the lesson

I begin by assessing each student’s current level and identifying any gaps in their understanding. From there, I create a personalized lesson plan tailored to their individual needs, goals, and learning style. Through my coursework, I have studied effective learning from both cognitive and neurological perspectives, and I combine this knowledge with one year of tutoring experience.

My lessons are designed for K–12 students who need academic support, want to get ahead in their studies, or would like to build practical skills that will prepare them for life beyond the classroom.

Perfect! I am so happy I crossed paths with Sherilynn for my daughter in fifth grade. My daughter had anxiety from maths and would shut down even if she knew the topic, she could not solve maths problems. Sherilynn has been incredible in identifying her weaknesses and explaining them to her, building a strong foundation, having so much patience, and in doing all this giving my daughter confidence in maths. I find that she is not just an instructor passing the hour, but someone who truly cares about making a difference for her students. My daughter and I both look forward to maths with Sherilynn!

Perfect! Sherilynn was just amazing— flexible, creative and patient with both my kids. She was well organized, giving me updates afterwards but also engaging, making the material fun when one of the kids initially really didn’t want to be there.
