Find out more about Nikhil

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I had interest in economics, finance and statistics since my school but explored more on these in university. I did my undergraduate in economics, and masters in statistics and CFA level 2 during the recent years. Since my university days, I have been giving private tutoring, but in 2020 started to do it online as the world moved towards online mode. I always had a passion for tutoring and enjoyed more as I tutored.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I love to tutor economics, finance and statistics. Also, I like business subjects as well. My end goal is to help students to enjoy these subjects and grasp the content as much as possible.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

I had several teachers who inspired me to follow this part and I thank them all for providing me this path. I appreciate two qualities in my teacher - their passion for the subjects and breaking the most difficult part of the subject in a clear and concise way. I have tried to imbibe the above two qualities from them.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

The most crucial quality of a tutor is to adapt to each student's need as every student is different - some like more theory while some prefer practicals. Another quality to be a splendid tutor is to be patient with tutees and reduce their fear of the subject by elucidating the topic.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

One of the most valuable anecdotes that I remember is from my undergraduate days. I used to feel lost in complex topics of economics. I used to think that there were no quality resources for it. SInce those days only I began to establish my foundation for economics and finance so that I can provide quality advice as a tutor.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

The challenging part of being a tutor is to constantly update with the changing subject's requirement. The world is changing, so is the subject's curriculum.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

I have a passion for economics and finance, which has propelled me to teach these subjects. I also enjoy writing articles and blogs about the economy, financial policy and economic statistics.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

Love to teach, Passion for said subjects and Past experience of tutoring is what makes me superprof. :P
