About Katherine

I am about to enter my second year of medical school at UCL and have been tutoring since the summer of 2025 in a range of subjects including: UCAT, biology, chemistry, maths, medical school interviews and personal statements.

I adore teaching and take great pride in helping students reach their full potential. In secondary school, I was part of a mentorship programme for younger students and was known by teachers and friends as always willing to help others understand difficult concepts. I received an average rating of 4.7/5 stars during my prior tutoring position and had received many positive pieces of feedback about the clarity, approach and content of my sessions.

I have a very friendly and approachable manner and encourage an open and reflective environment during my sessions. The UCAT is a stressful exam, and I have on many occasions helped support students who felt stuck or defeated in their preparations.

About the lesson

A proficient and patient teacher I tailor my sessions to the individual needs and learning styles of my pupils, providing personalised and detailed lessons. Having previously taught around 150 students through a UCAT mentoring programme in the summer of 2025 I have coached each section of the UCAT thoroughly and have several approaches to each section to suit several learning styles. Historically I have taught lessons for the duration of 1 hour but would also be comfortable offering sessions for 1.5-2 hours. I encourage students to send me problem questions or queries prior to sessions so that we can review and reflect together as well as give written feedback and marking where applicable.

Incredibly good at explaining things clearly and in a way which is easy to understand, and breaks down complicated problems into manageable steps. Has really good exam-specific tips which help a lot, and is very patient and understanding when something's difficult. Is really good at having a tailored approach and adapting to your personal learning style, making sure you understand everything.
