About Emily
Hi! My name is Emily :) Having gone through GCSEs and A-Levels myself, I understand how overwhelming and stressful it can be! I have a passion for helping students achieve their potential, and become more confident in their abilities. I also provide Oxbridge admissions tutoring (for which I have a separate ad) so feel free to reach out about that too.
High-achieving undergrad at the University of Oxford, studying for Theology and Religion with over 4 years of tutoring experience. Grade 9 at GCSE RS, and Grade A at A-Level. Currently achieving 1sts and 2:1 marks in my Theology degree.
Enhanced DBS checked! Previous students have made great strides, with all past students improving by 2-4 GCSE grades or 1-2 A-Level grades after my tuition. Students also cite increased confidence in their ability to write coherent and convincing pieces of work.
I happily accommodate any special requirements (e.g. dyslexia and extra time).
I adapt my teaching style according to you, and thus lessons are very personal, and at whatever pace needed. E.g., if you cannot digest large pieces of info, we will practice more visual and verbal exercises.
I have a range of exemplar responses, and all students will receive a personalised in-depth powerpoint containing all of our lessons, to use for revision.
I am easy to talk to, and approachable :)
My specialised religions are Christianity, Catholic Christianity, Hinduism and Buddhism, and my specialised exam-boards are EDEXCEL and EDUQAS GCSE, and OCR A-Level, but I am confident in tutoring other exam boards and subjects!

Group sessions:
-If you are interested in group sessions, such as between yourself/ your child and your/their friends studying for the same exams or qualifications, please message me! Typically charged at an extra 1/2 for each additional student (e.g. £45 an hour for two students) :)
-Use of Powerpoints which are available to students after the lesson.
-A mix of content and exam practice, depending on your needs. Use of my own accessible essay structure (PEELC) which past students have found increases their marks in exams.
-Engaging tasks that test knowledge and understanding without any pressure or expectation- I work with you, not against you!
-If you have special requirements (e.g. dyslexia), I can make many of the tasks discussion/verbal based, so that you can access teaching in a different format.
OXBRIDGE COACHING:
Please message me for more details, or to send my oxbridge-specific ad, but here is a general overview:
30min free consultation to assess your needs, and make a coaching plan.
I offer detailed instruction on personal statements and written work for Oxbridge submission, for any subject, using example essays, and providing feedback on students' own work.
I provide mock-interview practice for humanities subjects, lasting 30mins+ plus at a time, including pre-reading for the relevant subjects which use this in interview. This provides students with an insight into interview structure, helping them to reframe their thinking, and reduce nerves for the real thing!
I run mock debates, accessible for any subject, to allow students to get into the 'Oxford mindset,' and engage with critique effectively. This allows students to experience a 'tutorial' (Oxford) or 'supervision' (Cambridge) setting, helping them to develop transferable skills for interviews.
I also have a master-doc for books, podcasts, lectures etc. for religious studies students who are preparing their personal statements, or wishing to present a well-rounded application :)
Lessons can take any format you wish, whether that be a mock-interview, advice on personal statements, critique of existing work, or a chat to reduce nerves and gain insight into the admissions process :)
-Top exam results and knowledge of the Oxbridge application process (access and admissions officer for Worcester College JCR, experience working with prospective students).
Review
All of our reviews are collected by us and are 100% reliable. They correspond to a real experience lived by the teacher's students.
Perfect! Emily is an amazing RS tutor. She has helped my daughter improve her confidence for RS GCSE over the past 2 years, and has made brilliant resources for her. Emily is incredibly encouraging and kind and knowledgeable. She is completely reliable and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for an outstanding RS tutor.

Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
As her father, I have known Emily all her life. So I have a deep understanding of her character, work ethic, and ability to help others learn and grow.
What I think stands out most about Emily's teaching is her ability to adapt her approach to each individual student. She is really good at explaining abstract and practical concepts clearly and in an accessible way. She always takes the time to understand how each student learns best and tailors her lessons to the students' needs, abilities, and goals.
I know that she works with students of different ages, abilities, and requirements, and I have seen how seriously she takes the responsibility of helping them succeed.
Another quality I want to highlight is her commitment to making sure everyone feels included, listened to, and supported. Whether she is tutoring, leading student ambassadors, running outreach activities, or working as part of a team, she is always patient, kind, and has excellent communication skills. She combines these qualities with strong subject knowledge, having achieved outstanding results in Religious Studies and now studying Theology and Religion at Oxford University.
I know that Emily dedicates many hours to preparing resources, supporting others, and developing her skills as an educator and leader. I have also heard consistently positive feedback from the students she tutors, including significant improvements in confidence and academic performance.
I would wholeheartedly recommend Emily to any student looking for a knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely caring tutor who is committed to helping people achieve the best possible results.Emily is engaging and accessible, with a wealth of experience in the admissions process. She provides a calm environment for students to grow, and achieve their full potentials. She clearly has a drive and passion for coaching, and puts her full effort into every student. I would thoroughly reccomend her for any student needing support!
My daughter worked with Emily offline on year 12 religious studies, and we organised this through superprof. My daughter always left the lessons more confident, and felt able to ask Emily questions without being judged. I would definitely reccomend her!
Emily always provides detailed and accessible course material, using non-course-based examples to make exam technique more clear. She adapts the speed and depth of her lessons to the needs of the student, and provides extra resources that students are unable to access (e.g. that of other teachers!)
