About Ada
While my primary medium is oil painting, I work across a wide range of traditional and experimental materials. This flexibility allows me to meet students where they are and expose them to a broad range of techniques. As a fine arts and evolutionary biology major at the University of Florida, I bring a multidisciplinary perspective to teaching drawing, particularly the human form. My goal is to foster curiosity and technical growth in middle and high school students through an engaging, inquiry-based approach. I encourage students to ask meaningful questions and help guide them to answers.

I believe in teaching students how to ask thoughtful questions—about form, function, and technique—and then empowering them to seek answers through observation, experimentation, and practice. My lessons are a space for active learning, where curiosity is celebrated and progress is always the goal.
A typical lesson plan for students struggling with anatomy would start by breaking down complex structures into manageable concepts, introducing major muscle groups and skeletal landmarks appropriate to their age and skill level. This anatomical foundation becomes the basis for simplifying the human form in gesture and figure drawing.
We apply our knowledge immediately through timed sketching exercises. Starting with 1-minute gesture drawings from photo references, students build confidence and fluidity. As their understanding grows, we move to 5- and 10-minute poses, focusing on form, proportion, and expression. Throughout the process, I provide ongoing critique—constructive, supportive, and specific—while celebrating each student’s progress and personal style.
