About Julie

I am a fourth-year student pursuing Civil and Environmental Engineering at one of the top engineering schools in the nation. I have a passion for learning, which is why I became a tutor for my engineering college. I am a proud first-generation Latina engineer.

About the lesson

As a calculus tutor for engineering students at Grainger College, University of Illinois, my teaching approach is characterized by an engaging and interactive methodology. I employ the Socratic method, breaking down complex concepts into digestible components and encouraging critical thinking. Each lesson plan is meticulously tailored, beginning with a focus on the concept of the week and delving into essential background information. The sessions include step-by-step walkthroughs of calculus problems, fostering both theoretical understanding and practical problem-solving skills.

What sets me apart is my commitment to personalized and adaptive teaching, recognizing and addressing the unique needs of each student. My goal is not only academic excellence but also instilling a genuine passion for calculus.
