Comprehensive Guitar and Music Theory Curriculum (Online & Offline)

I offer a structured and graded curriculum for guitar and music theory, designed to prepare students for internationally recognized examinations, including those included in the UK Universities and College Admissions Service (UCAS) tariff. My teaching caters to both online and offline (home tuition) students in New Delhi, India. The curriculum is divided into three levels, aligning with graded music exams, making it ideal for students aiming for scholarships for higher studies.

Level 1: Beginner (Initial Grade - Grade 2)

This level focuses on building a strong foundation in both guitar playing and music theory. It is divided into two phases:

Preliminary (8 hours): This introductory course is designed for absolute beginners. It covers the fundamentals of music theory, from basic musical concepts to understanding the instrument. Students learn proper posture, hand positioning, and basic playing techniques through targeted exercises. The focus is on developing a strong musical sense and understanding the "why" behind musical concepts.
Basics: Building upon the preliminary level, this phase focuses on developing core technical skills, sight-reading, aural training, improvisation, and musical knowledge. The curriculum is carefully structured to be accessible even for students with no prior musical background. Students begin to apply their theoretical knowledge to practical playing.
Level 2: Supplementary (Grade 2 - Grade 5)

This level expands upon the beginner's foundation, delving deeper into both guitar playing and music theory.

Students further develop their musical knowledge, including more advanced music theory concepts.
Technical skills are refined through precisely arranged exercises.
Sight-reading and aural skills are further developed.
Improvisation is encouraged and nurtured through a graded curriculum.
Crucially, students begin to analyze songs and understand the music theory underlying their composition, moving beyond rote memorization to a deeper understanding of musical structure. This makes learning more engaging and enjoyable.
Level 3: Intermediate (Grade 6 - Grade 8)

This level is considered equivalent to a music diploma and prepares students for advanced studies, including certifications like ATCL, LTCL, and FTCL.

Students achieve Grade 8, the highest grade in this level, and develop advanced technical skills, including musical composition.
The curriculum covers advanced music theory, aural training, and further refinement of technical skills.
This level provides comprehensive training for those pursuing higher education in music.
Comprehensive Approach to Guitar Mastery

My guitar instruction encompasses several key elements:

Music Theory: A deep understanding of music theory is essential for any serious musician.
Technical Skills: Focused exercises and practice routines are used to develop proficiency on the guitar.
Rhythm Guitar: Students learn to play chords and rhythms effectively, providing a solid foundation for accompanying themselves or others.
Fingerpicking: This advanced technique is taught to allow students to play intricate melodies and harmonies on the guitar.
By integrating these elements, students develop into well-rounded guitarists.

Certification Options

Students can choose to pursue graded music theory certifications alongside their guitar studies or focus solely on practical guitar playing. The curriculum is designed to support both pathways. Those aiming for certifications will be prepared for the relevant examinations grade by grade.

  • Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

Music is my subject and It's believed the only drug doctors can't prescribe. It's one of the emotional aspects the whole universe share. From Ancient Times to Modern Times many periods in between, from Electronic Music to Jazz & pop music, etc. It is the only language accepted in every religion, every culture, and by all human societies.

I remember as a child I used to play around the Krishna Devotees who used to sing and dance all around. Every time I hear them singing, I couldn't stop myself and felt like flying. As time passed we had to move to the Capital but Music was always with me alive. I wanted to know how it works so I joined one of the oldest Young Men's Christian Association in New Delhi, India, and started learning the Theory of Music along with Guitar as Practical with a serious note.
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

During my learning process, I found the teacher I choose was one of the best but He never cared to give the precious knowledge he had. I was keen to learn faster as I was very hardworking and wanted to go through the process in a distinctive manner at the same time. Within the first quarter, I already had the feeling to do things myself as I got the idea of how to crack it. And fortunately, with great difficulties, I did all the grades one by one MYSELF in both Theories of Music as well as Plectrum Guitar (which is Acoustic Guitar name changed now) from Trinity College London. During the learning period, I found without a good teacher it's so hard for sure. I promised myself to teach my students in such a manner they don't have to go through such difficulties as I had to.
  • How does your work help society?

Music has helped my students and they live in the society in the healing process, especially during Pandemic Times. I have been associated with various societies where I felt Music brought the society together breaking the boundaries. I also prepare my students for exams and helped them acquire the certificates that have helped them study abroad as well as prove themselves extraordinary in School Societies.
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

Outside teaching I love to perform and in fact used to a lot before the Pandemic. Apart from music I love outdoor activities like Cycling, Tracking, and Running Daily to stay healthy. I believe staying healthy is very important. I love good food, cook myself, and love to experiment with different dishes and flavors.
  • Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

Once I was hired by an Indian student from Canada. For the first few classes, it went great. But he started smoking (you know what I mean) before taking class every time. And as a result, he was always talking about his ex-gf and all other stuff. After a few weeks, I made him aware of the classes are not being effective because of it. He triggered and started abusing me verbally. I had to discontinue the class and block him. The next day he called from his friend's phone and apologized, requesting to re-join my classes. But I was afraid he will that again and couldn't say YES.
