About Abigail

I am a dedicated piano teacher with over 7 years of experience, holding a degree in music education. My teaching style is rooted in the belief that music is for everyone, and I take a holistic approach to teaching that balances technique, theory, and personal expression. For beginners, I introduce foundational skills such as finger technique, note reading, and basic rhythm, ensuring that students are well-equipped to progress to more advanced material. As students develop their skills, I focus on helping them build a deep understanding of music theory, sight-reading, and ear training. I also challenge them with more complex pieces and techniques that push their musical abilities. I believe in exposing students to a wide variety of musical genres, from classical to jazz, pop, and beyond, allowing them to explore different musical expressions and styles. I place a strong emphasis on creativity and improvisation, encouraging students to experiment and develop their own unique musical voice. I also dedicate time to performance preparation, helping students build confidence in their abilities and gain experience on stage. My goal is to create a supportive, encouraging atmosphere where students can grow as musicians and develop a lifelong love of music.

About the lesson

With a Bachelor’s degree in music and 7 years of teaching experience, my philosophy as a piano teacher is centered around making music accessible and enjoyable for students of all levels. I believe that learning the piano should be both challenging and fun, which is why I tailor my lessons to meet the needs and interests of each individual student. Beginners will focus on building a solid foundation, learning proper hand positioning, basic scales, and simple melodies. Intermediate students move on to more advanced techniques, such as developing speed and dexterity, working on chord progressions, and interpreting more complex compositions. I use a variety of musical styles in my teaching, including classical, jazz, pop, and modern, to ensure that students are exposed to a wide array of musical genres. I also incorporate ear training, music theory, and improvisation into my lessons, providing a comprehensive understanding of music. I believe that students learn best when they are motivated and engaged, so I aim to make every lesson inspiring and enjoyable. Whether a student is learning for personal enrichment, preparing for exams, or looking to perform in front of others, I create a supportive space where they can grow as musicians and individuals.
