  • Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

Dance is not just an art form; it is a powerful means of self-expression, storytelling, and emotional release. It allows individuals to connect with themselves and others through rhythm, movement, and music. Dance enhances physical fitness, improves coordination, and boosts confidence, making it beneficial for people of all ages.

My love for dance began when I participated in my first dance competition as a child. That initial experience sparked a passion that only grew stronger with time. From that moment, I performed in every school event, completely immersed in the joy that dance brought me. It was the one thing that never felt tiring-no matter how much I practiced, I always felt energized and fulfilled. Over the years, dance became more than just a hobby; it became an integral part of who I am.
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

Dance has always been my escape-a space where I feel the most alive and free. While balancing academics, I found myself constantly drawn to teaching kids and choreographing performances, not just as a stress reliever but as a way to spread joy. Over time, I realized that dance is more than just movement-it's a powerful tool for self-expression, confidence, and emotional release.
What truly motivates me to teach is the way dance transforms people. I've seen shy individuals open up, stressed minds find relief, and those hesitant to move discover a newfound confidence. Even if someone isn't passionate about dance, just moving to the rhythm can be incredibly therapeutic. It's not just an art form-it's a way to reconnect with yourself, break free from self-doubt, and feel truly present in the moment.

This belief inspired me to take the leap and turn my passion into a career. Through my teaching, I want to help others experience the same freedom, confidence, and happiness that dance has given me.
  • How does your work help society?

My work contributes to society by promoting physical health, mental well-being, and social connection. Dance serves as a creative outlet that helps reduce stress, build confidence, and improve overall emotional health. It also brings people from different backgrounds together, fostering a sense of belonging and unity. Through my teaching, I aim to create a positive space where individuals can express themselves freely while improving their fitness and mental health.
  • If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

My role model is Vishakha Verma, a graceful and kind dance teacher based in Dubai. She teaches students of all ages, including special needs children, giving them confidence and joy through dance. Her passion and dedication inspire me, especially since she continues to dance beautifully even at the age of 50. Her ability to empower others through dance motivates me to follow a similar path, spreading confidence and happiness through my teaching.
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

Apart from teaching dance, I enjoy yoga, meditation, journaling, and exploring new dance styles. I love traveling, reading novels, and engaging in creative activities like crafting. Additionally, I have a strong interest in mathematics and enjoy solving problems and teaching it in an engaging way. Motivating others and helping them overcome challenges also brings me joy, as I find fulfillment in guiding people toward self-improvement and positivity.
  • Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

One evening, after a long and exhausting day at work, I found myself venting to my mother about how drained I felt. In the middle of our conversation, without even realizing it, I blurted out, "I don't want to do this job; I just want to dance." That moment took me by surprise. Why did I say that? I had done everything I was supposed to-studied hard, landed a good job, and was earning well. Yet, deep down, I wasn't happy.

I grew up in an environment where education and a stable career were highly valued, so I never considered dance as a real profession. But that one sentence made me question everything. Quitting a well-paying job to follow my passion seemed absurd to those around me. I faced doubts, fears, and a complete lack of support. Even I questioned myself-was I making a huge mistake?

But something inside me knew that if I didn't take this leap, I would spend my whole life wondering what if? So, I gathered my courage, pushed through my self-doubts, and slowly started building my career in dance. It wasn't easy, but with each step, I felt more alive. Today, I wake up excited, doing what truly brings me joy. Ignoring that realization would have meant spending my life searching for happiness in all the wrong places.

I truly appreciate this opportunity to share my journey, and I look forward to inspiring and guiding more students through my dance classes.
