About Tabitha
- What kind of experience do you have? I have been teaching piano for 20 years, privately and in schools. I have taught all levels from complete beginners to diploma-level. I also have concert and recording experience as a piano accompanist. - Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate? Yes, - Where and with whom did you train? I trained at Cambridge University with Hugh Wood, and at the Royal Academy of Music with Michael Dussek and Andrew West. - Tell me about some of your current students. Adam is a very enthusiastic and bright student who has been coming to me since he was 4. He is now 12, holds a music scholarship to a local private school, and is working towards his Grade 8. Carl is a lawyer who had his very first piano lesson 3 years ago. He is also now working towards his Grade 8.

Trained at Cambridge University and the Royal Academy of Music, I teach all levels of classical piano, from four-year-olds (a good age to start!) to adults. I am an experienced teacher working privately from my home. References available. - Which subject(s) do you teach? I teach the Piano. - Tell me about your qualifications. I have a Master's degree in music from Cambridge University, and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Piano Accompaniment from the Royal Academy of Music. I'm also currently studying for an MSc in Psychology, but that's just for fun! Having lived in France as a child, I'm bilingual in French and English. - How much do you charge? £35 for half an hour, or pro rata. The first lesson is a trial lesson so it's free! Young children tend to start with 20 minutes (£23.33). - Where do you teach? I teach from my homes in Greenwich and Cambridge, and online. - When are you available? I teach Monday to Saturday - Which ages and levels do you teach? I teach all ages and levels. I am happy to teach young children - I find 4 a very good age to start, although I have sometimes taught children as young as 3. I also have many adult students, including several who started as complete beginners and are now some of my most accomplished students! - Which qualifications do you prepare your students for? It is entirely up to my students whether or not they do exams - if they wish to, we follow the ABRSM syllabus, although I would be happy to work with an alternative syllabus if preferred. I also help prepare children for the performance element of GCSE and A-Level music.

Tabitha is the kindest, most patient teacher in the world. She taught me (a mature student) then my two daughters (from age 4 to 10). Lessons were always fun and interesting, and Tabitha’s incredible “sixth sense” about what we found tricky in our learning was just amazing. I cannot recommend Tabitha highly enough.
Tabitha is the best piano teacher I have had- patient, kind, encouraging and extremely knowledgeable about music. She makes learning piano fun and interesting with particular focus on the sound and musicality of each piece of music.
Tabitha is both a hugely talented musician and a wonderfully empathy a teacher. These two are not always found in music teachers in my experience ! In fact it’s a rarity. My daughters adored her and their lessons with her. She also accompanied them on their violins. Even now they are in University and two years away from home, they will contact her and ask whether she will play with them for pleasure. This - aside from they musical skills development - could not be a higher form of recommendation in my opinion. Tabitha works with children and adults and I think with both levels is an intuitive, skilful teacher who will help you reach your potential with joy.
As a « mature » student, I will always be grateful to have had Tabitha as a piano teacher. She has guided me through my Musical journey with passion, patience and kindness. She has helped me complete my Grade 8 Piano and Grade 8 Music theory in about 3 years by turning every weekly lesson into a beautiful musical ballade.. If that wasn’t clear enough, I highly recommend Tabitha!
Tabitha has been my piano teacher for 15+ years and I can’t imagine her not being. She’s a gifted musician & teacher who inspires her students and enables them to develop as competent pianists who play with a love for the instrument and the music. She regularly rethinks her teaching approach and is always finding the best way for her students to excel on an individual basis using and explaining the cognitive approach to learning.
I would recommend Tabitha as she’s simply a fantastic tutor. What I appreciate most about Tabitha is her teaching style. She is so easy to work with, patient, kind, supportive and always encouraging whilst holding me accountable to high standards helping me learn and develop quickly as a musician. Since studying with her my piano skills have improved significantly, I have learned so much, and truly look forward to my lessons each week. I highly recommend Tabitha as a piano teacher.
I have been with Tabitha for over 10 years and she is absolutely great. She is patient, empathetic, excellent and brings out the best in you. I could not ask for a better teacher.
Tabitha has helped me for many years accompanying me on piano whilst I play violin. We have always had an amazing connection musically and I find her communication and energy whilst playing contagious! we have done many concerts and music exams together and she has always been the first choice and I guarantee all my results from exams and competitions are majorly because of her. Tabitha never fails to give amazing honest feedback on my playing and is very kind in her helpful criticism, offering improvement whilst also never failing to praise so you always feel confident and comfortable around her.
Tabitha is a wonderful piano teacher. My playing got to the best it ever got when I was being taught by her and I got a very high grade in my A-Level music performance exam thanks to her teaching. She is very engaged, kind, patient and helpful, and is also a brilliant pianist herself which is very inspiring as a student!

I charge £70 an hour or pro rata. The first lesson is a trial lesson so it is free - the free trial lesson lasts as long as the regular lessons are expected to be! Lessons last anything from 15 minutes (for very small people) to 90 minutes+ (for very advanced or keen people!) - it is up to you. Lessons are usually weekly though you can choose to have them more or less often (if affordable, lessons twice a week can be very helpful). Face-to-face lessons can be very helpful where possible, even if only occasionally (most of my students are face-to-face, but some students find it easier to do most/all of their lesson online). Some students find it helpful to have a weekly lesson face-to-face and then to have one or more shorter online "maintenance" lessons in between face-to-face lessons. Again, it is entirely up to you to choose whatever works best for you!
