About Marcello
Meet Your Tutor – Marcello Hi, I’m Marcello — a Statistics student at the University of Toronto, a former Math Olympiad Club President, and an experienced math tutor with a passion for helping students truly understand and enjoy mathematics. My background in competitive math has taught me to approach problems with creativity and precision, and I bring that same mindset to my teaching. In high school, I served both as a club leader and a teaching assistant, regularly conducting classes for my peers and mentoring younger students. This hands-on experience has helped me build strong communication skills and a deep understanding of how students learn best. As a tutor, I’m patient, approachable, and results-focused. I prioritize clear explanations and guided practice, helping students gain confidence step by step. My Approach to Teaching
As a Statistics student at the University of Toronto and a former Math Olympiad participant, I bring both mathematical insight and hands-on experience to my tutoring sessions. My teaching method is grounded in clarity, structure, and — most importantly — practice.
Teaching Method:
I focus on explaining concepts clearly and intuitively first, breaking down ideas into digestible parts so students truly understand the "why" behind the math. Once the foundation is set, I shift the focus to guided practice, helping students apply what they've learned with increasing independence. We tackle both typical textbook questions and more challenging problems to build confidence and mastery.
What a Typical Lesson Looks Like:
-Quick check-in to identify current struggles or goals
-Targeted concept breakdown with simple explanations and visual aids if needed
-Practice time with immediate feedback and correction
-Wrap-up & recap with a quick review and tips for independent study
