About Leonard

I have built expertise on the job and in studies and performance that have earned me multiple professioinal designations

I feel honoured to have been given the designation of FCPA and FCMA "Fellow" , which is awarded to a few select accountants by Canada's professional accounting body.

I am an FCPA, FCMA, FICB, AMCT and a professional engineer with many years of working experience in both small and multi-billion dollar organizatiions. This experience has been with for profit organizations, as well as, not-for-profit organizations (including charities)

Throughout my career I have used my accounting, mathematical and engineering knowledge skillsets to simplify and clarify complex issues. This made work much easier for those who reported to me, other management and those who have requested my advice.

About the lesson

A typical lesson for students studying the Fundamentals of Accounting I
- start with identifying your immediate challenge
- ask questions to determine what you already know and listening carefully to identify the gap of knowledge you need to have filled
- then tailor and deliver a unique lesson to fill that knowledge gap by using proven career techniques provided to others.

All the while encouraging you to ask questions to ensure your needs are being met and so that we can take complex topics and break them down into understandable bite-sized segments.

For students needing support on case studies, in addition to the above
- I help you correct the most common mistake made in doing a case study...being not recognizing what the most relevant issues in the case are.
- assist in building a framework to build the answer to the case study
- review the students preliminary answer to the case study
- discuss the areas needing improvement
-review the ongoing and final draft of the student's response to the case study

For students studying topics which are needed to become effective CFOs,
I provide insights into topic areas including
- strategy development
- comparative analysis of competitors
-risk assesment and mitigation
- planning
-operating and capital budgeting
-operating and capital reporting
-working capital management
-project recording and reporting
-financial analysis

The hourly fee for case studies is $75 per hour, and
for CFO topics it is $100 per hour
