About James

I believe my work ethic and abilities are best demonstrated by my successful career in finance and my academic accomplishments. I am also deeply committed to the life of the mind and learning for its own sake. I have previously taught English as a Second Language, been a computer science tutor, provided test prep services for the SAT, volunteered to teach business in Sing Sing Federal Prison, and guest taught high school mathematics (statistics and probability). I have experience teaching children, adolescents, adults, and people with learning disabilities. I love to teach because of the satisfaction of helping others to achieve their goals.

About the lesson

Hello! I am a well-credentialed and experienced tutor available to help with test preparation, academic tutoring and professional advising/resume enhancement. I received my Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Chicago in 2008, the CAIA designation in 2010, the CFA designation in 2012, and an MBA from Columbia Business School in 2020. I achieved 95th percentile or above results on the SAT, LSAT and GMAT, and achieved both CFA and CAIA designations without repeating exams at any level. After a successful 12-year career in investment management in New York City and San Francisco, I am currently back in school re-training for a career shift to the healthcare industry. I am enrolled in a pre-med post-baccalaureate program, studying for the MCAT and working as a behavioral health nurse assisting adults with disabilities currently. Although I work approximately 20 hours a week and attend school full time, I still have 8-10 hours a week available to provide tutoring.
