About Si Thu

I'm flexible with scheduling and happy to work around your exam and assignment deadlines. Sessions can be online via Zoom or in person on the UBC campus. Whatever works best for you.

I know what it's like to struggle with a course and feel lost. I've worked through challenging math and CS courses myself, and that experience helps me meet you where you are without judgment. My goal is for you to leave every session feeling more confident than when you walked in.

For our first session, please send me your course syllabus or a few problems you're working on so I can come prepared. That way we make the most of our time together from the start.

Cancellations with at least 24 hours notice are no problem. I just ask for a heads-up so I can adjust my schedule.

About the lesson

I'm a UBC student studying math and computer science with hands-on experience building iOS apps and working through university-level math from calculus through linear algebra and statistics.

My approach is focused on understanding, not memorizing. I start by figuring out where you're stuck. Usually it's a specific concept or step that everything else depends on. Once we identify that, I break it down using concrete examples and walk through problems together until the process clicks. I don't just show you how to get the answer; I make sure you understand why each step works so you can handle new problems on your own.

A typical session starts with a quick check-in on what you're working on such homework, exam prep, or a concept from lecture that didn't land. We spend most of the time working through problems together, increasing difficulty as you build confidence. I'll leave you with a few practice problems to try before our next session.

I tutor math from high school through university level, including pre-calculus, calculus 1-3, linear algebra. and introductory statistics. For programming, I cover Python fundamentals, intro CS concepts, and app development basics.

Whether you're trying to pass a tough summer course, prep for a final, or get ahead for next semester, I'm happy to work at your pace.
