About Georgie
I live in Downham with my 5-year-old son, husband and cat. I grew up in Somerset and moved to Dublin when I was 18 to go to drama school, I then moved to London in 2010. In Somerset I went to an independent school for girls and honestly could have done better. Now I am in my 30s I can retain so much more information than I ever could at 18 and my writing skills have vastly improved, which meant when I did my degree four years ago I was much more prepared. Tutoring gives me the chance to use these skills and hopefully help pupils who were a bit like me at school - someone with ambition, passion and determination that just needs a little support. I work as a Tour Guide in London and I am constantly learning new topics. My learning technique is mostly visual but I also love to discuss and analyse. I am always reading and have done from a very early age. At school I did English Literature at GCSE and then carried it on to A-Level and sometimes the syllabus and classroom style teaching can take the joy out of books. I want to bring the joy back! Whatever level you are at, whether you're a literature and drama lover or you're going through the motions because school requires you to, I am here to help make it a bit more fun.

I have a degree in Theatre Studies from Rose Bruford College as well as graduating from the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin. I also have both English Literature and Theatre Studies GCSE and A-Level qualifications, plus an Associate Diploma in Performing from Trinity College London. In 2014-2015 I worked as a drama teacher and resident house tutor at a boarding school in Dorset. I taught Year 8 upwards which included teaching GCSE, A-Level and BTEC modules. Being a tutor as well as a teacher made me learn how to connect with pupils depending on their learning strengths. I am incredibly passionate about literature whether it be plays, novels or non-fiction and I believe being able to discuss texts is an important way to learn. I strive to help pupils get to grips with their own learning techniques to help them do the best they can and encourage discussion in order to get to grips with the modules or texts they are working on. I am able to help with essay writing, revision, performance-based exams and reading. Reading can be frustrating for many people for many different reasons so I would be happy to help in any capacity that aids their learning.

Georgie is a fantastic tutor and gave my son so much help. He is in year 10 and struggles with reading and getting to grips with his coursework so they usually work on his given book and helps with planning out what he needs to do each week. We usually go to Georgie's house or if we can't she does online sessions which is very handy.
Choosing Georgie as my English tutor has been an absolute game-changer! Georgie's dedication, expertise, and passion for teaching English are truly remarkable. I would recommend her again and again whole heartedly.
