About Maxwell
I am a professional theatre practitioner and actor. I work as a divisor, clown, playwright, puppeteer, storyteller, mime, and movement director, and have been teaching drama to students of all ages for 5 years. I achieved a Ba (Hons) in Physical Theatre, and have utilised this training in performances in London, UK and across the world. I currently run my own theatre company which regularly perform in theatres around the UK, and I am also working as a freelance actor/theatre-maker in London. My theatre style and background is a playful one, training and specialising in the practices of Lecoq and clown.

My teaching method is a fluid and reactionary one, based off of the use of stimulus, which either the student or myself will provide. First I will get to know you and understand how you instinctively approach the stimulus (text, or an object, or story) - what it is you see, feel and say. Then we will strip all of that back through play, improvisation and discovery. These tasks, or 'games', will help you visit a stimulus from a instinctive, internal and spontaneous place, asking you to discover originality and a personal artistic creativity. It is through these childlike discoveries that we will uncover the joy of playing and being another character, bringing something to without breath to life, or simply discovering the words and actions with which we can tell a story. No two experiences will be the same, and even those with a single stimulus (i.e a monologue, or a puppet) will find that the world they encounter will be vast and endless. This method is accessible to any level of performer, as it only requires imagination and a pleasure in playing. It is extremely effective for monologues, improvisation, playwriting, storytelling, devising, and puppetry.
