About Chiko
I am an academically strong student, who loves to learn new things, but also enjoy having fun and hanging out with friends. I play sports, my favorite sports include: basketball, soccer, and hockey. So I do understand when students struggle at juggling sports and academics. My favorite subject has to be Physics and or Math, however I do not offer tutoring in those as it would be difficult as I sometimes struggle to grasp the topics myself, nonetheless I'm still quite good at them. I chose to tutor English due to being strong in the subject and understanding it with ease. Aside from my strength in English in terms of tutoring, I also choose to tutor because I understand my privilege in this world, and part of understanding it is using it as a tool. I've been in the shoes of students that struggle in terms of academics, I too needed a tutor or two, but those tutors didn't understand the way I worked and how I grasped certain topics, so I've decided to change the game. Using an approach that I was not given, due to the conception that it isn't beneficial.

1 on 1 with kids as a teenager. As a "kid" myself I understand how kids are like: The adolescent stage is extremely important, I will approach my tutoring with the understanding of how kids react, behave and understand. My approach: Students will tell me their strengths and weaknesses in English. I will ask questions as to why they think they're good at that specific section and try to apply how they think in that section to the section they do poorly in. In preparation for tests I will require the scope/breakdown, and will go through the sections explaining it in the way the student best understands. Disclaimer: I teach students between the ages of 9 (grade 3) until 15 (grade 9).
