About Johan
I completed Bachelor of Science and a Master's Degree in Architecture in 2006 and have more than 17 years of experience in Architectural, Mechanical and Civil Design. During my career I have programmed several automated 3D parametric drawing models using trigonometry and algebra to calculate spatial coordinates and make structural physics predictions. I have also successfully tutored many high school students in Mathematics and participated as a Mentor in a Junior Mechanical Engineer training program in my professional career.

My lessons follow a 5-step process:
1. Problem: I focus on the work that my students don't understand. I first listen to what they struggle with to focus and providing tailor-made lesson for the individual.
2. Example: I provide a real-world example as this helps with comprehending abstract ideas.
3. Foundation: I work through the core concepts required to solve the problem, making sure the student knows the basics and where to apply them.
4. Solution: Now we show the solution and the purpose of the exercise.
5. Confirmation: Lastly I have the student show me what they learned to ensure there is a full understanding.
Mathematics and Science is about understanding a technical problem and how to reach a conclusive solution. Repetitive practice is only beneficial after the foundation of understanding and implementation is in place.
