About Tom
My name is Tom and I love science; from the social science of economics to Biology and Chemistry. This interest has led me to represent Team GB at the international economics Olympiad, engage in a private research project on Cas-9 enzyme gene editing and present a wind power to green hydrogen model to a board of world class judges. I have finished A Levels and am taking a gap year before studying PPE at university.

I start with a diagnostic phase to figure out where a student stands. If they already know where they struggle, we jump straight into fixing those gaps. If they are completely new to the syllabus, I mark a personalised paper using past exam materials to spot their weak points, or we simply start the course from the beginning.
Once we establish that baseline, most of my standard hourly lessons follow a consistent structure. We begin with a quick five minute warm up covering core concepts or a review of the previous session to get warmed up. From there, the lesson becomes entirely interactive. I do not set a rigid difficulty level in advance; instead, the student guides the pace. If a question is tricky, we slow down and talk through it together until it makes sense. If they sail through the material, we step up the difficulty until we hit that ideal sweet spot where they are genuinely challenged but still learning comfortably.
Finally, as we wrap up a topic, I bring in timed practice on specific question types. This helps students spot recurring patterns in real exam papers and builds their confidence under timed conditions.
