About Thomas
I'm currently studying at the University of Sheffield, doing BA Politics and Philosophy and find it to be infinitely more engaging, fun and interesting when taught in the right way, compared to A Level. My hope is to correct the flaws of some of my more incompetent teachers at school and try to make Politics enjoyable whilst also striving for the very best results for all of my students. With regards to Maths, I was able to, at GCSE, boost my grade from a low 5 at the start of year 11 to a 9 come results day, all without a tutor. I aspire to be able to produce the same results for you all through tailored focus on specific areas of content that students struggle on. This, for me, is a key aspect of teaching, for a course as dense as GCSE Maths, that students often miss out on in classroom settings.

I take an interactive approach to teaching Politics, engaging with current affairs whilst also incorporating the skills which the exam board requires you to learn; practising essay plans and timed questions based on the content of lessons. For Maths, I found that constant practice of past questions and timed papers was the best route to prepare myself for sitting papers, however I do believe tailoring lessons to every child's needs is imperative. Pacing, focus on content and feedback can and will all be modified to the child's and parent's needs and I will hope to create a fun and engaging environment :)
