About Kelsey

Hello! I’m Kelsey, a Bachelor of Education student at Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor of Arts in French. As a teacher, I bring both academic training and real classroom experience into my tutoring, allowing me to support students using current, effective teaching strategies.

I have over five years of tutoring experience and seven years of working with children in classroom settings. I’ve supported students both online and in person, through private sessions and tutoring centres, in English, French, and foundational Math and Science. My approach is patient, adaptable, and student-centred, focused on building confidence while meeting each learner’s individual needs.

My passion for French is deeply rooted in my time living and studying in France, including a high school exchange and a year working as an au pair. These experiences gave me strong language skills and cultural insight that I love bringing into my lessons. I strive to make learning engaging and meaningful, helping students develop not only their skills but also a genuine interest and confidence in the subject.

About the lesson

My lessons are structured yet flexible and designed to meet each student’s individual goals, learning style, and level. I begin by checking in on progress and identifying focus areas, whether that’s building foundational skills, improving fluency, or supporting school assignments. Each lesson includes a balance of speaking, listening, reading, and writing, with clear explanations and plenty of opportunities for practice.

To keep learning engaging, I incorporate games, interactive activities, creative exercises, and occasional worksheets, creating a fun and supportive environment where students feel confident to participate and take risks. I adapt activities for learners of all ages and for both beginner and advanced French students, whether they are learning French for the first time or maintaining and strengthening existing skills. I am also happy to support elementary and high school students with Core French homework and assignments.
