This course is an educational program that will not only provide fundamental knowledge of music but also help you build a bridge between Middle Eastern, Balkan music and Western music. The course content is designed to develop you both theoretically and practically.
Course Content:
Basic Maqam Theory
You will learn about Maqam theory, one of the fundamental building blocks of Turkish music. By understanding the structure, characteristic features, transitions, and how to use Maqams, you can dive into the depths of Turkish music. This course will help you explore how sounds and melodies come together.
Solfege
The Solfege course provides the basic knowledge necessary to read musical notes correctly and sing them accurately. Through this course, your ear training will improve, and your ability to recognize and perceive sounds correctly will strengthen.
Harmony
In the Harmony course, you will learn about chord structures, chord progressions, and harmony theory in music. You will understand how to use harmony in both Turkish and Western music and gain insights that will enrich your musical expression.
Instrumental Lessons
Trumpet
By working on the Eastern and Balkan music repertoire and techniques, you will develop basic trumpet playing skills. You will learn the techniques needed to produce the trumpet’s sound correctly and explore the instrument's rich tones.
Tanbur
You will learn basic playing techniques on the Tanbur, one of the most important instruments in Turkish music, and gain mastery over the traditional Turkish music repertoire. By understanding the melodic and harmonic features of the Tanbur, you will improve your performance skills.
Istanbul Lute
This course teaches you the technique of playing the Ottoman-era lute and its place in Turkish music. The Istanbul Lute, with its rich historical background, will expand your music repertoire while allowing you to master the intricacies of a traditional instrument.
