About Daniel
I am a professional flautist and recorder player and perform with some of the world’s top orchestras (Royal Opera House, Philharmonia Orchestra, The Halle, Opera North), as well as teaching at the Royal Academy of Music and some of the highest-rated UK schools. I have recorded for film and TV (BBC, Netflix, Apple TV) and played on UK & International tours of musicals including The Lion King, Les Miserables, Wicked and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Anyone can learn to play an instrument! Playing an instrument has scientifically proven benefits, including increasing mental and physical wellbeing and supporting the brain function in other areas (including maths and science). Playing should be fun and I am happy to follow student guidance with their favourite types of music to play! I have a 100% pass rate for music exams and experience entering many students across all levels. I am a dedicated and experienced teacher with a LRAM diploma in teaching and pedagogical theory from the Royal Academy of Music. I also have Masters and Bachelors degrees from the Royal Academy with a prize for the highest final recital mark. I have a teaching philosophy rooted in enjoyment of playing and a strong grasp of technical fundamentals, so that students are free to express themselves musically. I work with students towards a mutual goal (graded exam, scholarship auditions, performances, personal enjoyment) and incorporate aural skills and theory into my lessons. I also often accompany students on the piano. I use specifically tailored online software and technology to deliver a HIGH QUALITY online lesson experience with comprehensive reports and follow-up notes.
