Physics is a great subject to teach because it can be so concrete and interactive. I know a high school teacher who lashes himself to the flag post and roller skates around it to illustrate forces. My daughter, a physics major, says “everything is physics”. Bring in some things to illustrate basic forces of physics- balloons that fly around the room when you release them because “for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction”. Pose some questions- why does it take so long to stop a car when you apply the brakes? (a body in motion tends to stay in motion). Show them that what they’re about to learn will explain all kinds of things that they experience every day.
