About Ethan
I am a dedicated flute tutor passionate about helping students develop both technical skill and creativity. My teaching philosophy combines mentorship, critical thinking, accountability, and creative exploration. I focus on tone, phrasing, rhythm, and breath control while nurturing expressive playing. I also teach music theory, sight-reading, and ear training to strengthen overall musicianship. Creativity is emphasised through improvisation, composition, and musical storytelling. I help students set goals, stay accountable, and track their progress consistently.
Mistakes are treated as natural learning experiences and opportunities for growth. I adapt lessons to each student’s pace, level, and personal interests. I act as a mentor, providing guidance, encouragement, and motivation in every lesson. Lessons balance technical skill-building with creative exercises to keep students engaged. I emphasise reflection, problem-solving, and independent thinking in all sessions. My goal is to build confidence, discipline, and a love for music in every student. I also teach related subjects such as performance preparation, rhythm, and theory. I create a positive and inspiring environment where students feel comfortable experimenting. Every lesson is designed to help students become expressive, confident, and passionate musicians.

My flute teaching philosophy emphasises creativity, mentorship, and accountability. I believe that every student can develop skill, confidence, and a love for music. Each lesson encourages exploration, critical thinking, and self-expression. I guide students as a mentor who motivates, supports, and challenges them. Accountability is key—I help students stay disciplined and track progress. Lessons include tone, breath, rhythm, and phrasing exercises to build a strong foundation. I also teach music theory, reading, and listening to create complete musicianship. Creativity is encouraged through improvisation, composition, and experimenting with musical ideas.
I teach students how to reflect on their playing and improve with each session. Mistakes are part of learning and are used as opportunities to grow. My lessons are flexible, adapting to the student’s pace, goals, and learning style. I aim to create an encouraging and inspiring environment. I emphasise curiosity, exploration, and independent thinking. I also teach related subjects like performance skills and music theory. My ultimate goal is to help students become confident, creative, and expressive musicians who enjoy every step of their musical journey.
