About Georgia

*About Me*

I'm Georgia, a qualified English Teacher and Examiner with extensive experience teaching GCSE and A-Level English Literature and Language. I also teach Study Skills.

My knowledge encompasses a range of exam boards, including AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC, Cambridge, and all IGCSEs. I am highly successful at teaching students exam technique, essay structure, and assessment objectives. My expertise in dramatic texts and poetry, alongside prose texts, is particularly advantageous to students who wish to develop their analytical skills at GCSE, A-Level and beyond.

I have worked in both independent and state schools (in London) as an English Teacher. My experience running creative writing workshops (for 5 years), and my constructive prompts are beneficial to students who wish to develop their creative and informative writing for the Language Papers.

I have been tutoring full-time since July 2022. I am also a writer, and my work has been published with a range of prestigious literary magazines and organisations.

I have a BA and PGCE in English and Drama (from Queen Mary, University of London, and the Institute of Education at UCL, respectively), and an MA in Writing Poetry at Newcastle University (on a full academic scholarship).

My background expertise also includes supporting pupils on the SEND register. I worked as a Teaching Assistant before training to complete my PGCE, often teaching pupils with ADHD, ASD, and Dyslexia one-to-one.

About the lesson

My rate includes a bespoke lesson, essay marking, resources, and lesson-planning time. I pride myself on creating the best lessons possible for every student.

*My Teaching Style*

I create bespoke lessons, based on each student's individual requirements. My enthusiastic and kind disposition creates an environment in which students feel confident to discuss texts and offer their own perspectives.

I offer enriching resources and mark weekly essays to ensure students are consistently developing their exam technique. I also create presentations and documents unique to students, so they have written - alongside verbal - support every lesson.

I like to begin with an initial video call so we can discuss how I can best support you. We will chat about your curriculum; any worries or doubts you may have about your exams, and put a plan together to ensure you reach your aspirations.

My strengths lie in creating a joyful classroom with confident and creative students, who develop an understanding of English that helps them connect deeply with the world around them.
